2XU is an Australian high-performance apparel company that aims to enhance performance in athletic pursuits. The use of compression allows increased blood flow and muscle oxygenation, thus reducing the risk of injury, speeding up recovery and improving ones performance.
Since my introduction to 2XU in 2013, their athletic wear has become an integral part of both my training and recovery. The apparel is comfortable, using fabric that is breathable, and waistbands that are solid enough to keep pants from sliding down and providing a distraction.
In 2018, I became a 2XU Canada Ambassador and feel lucky to work with such an awesome brand! If you’re new to compression wear, I’ve rounded up my top three must haves below.
Refresh Recovery Tight: I am typically on the field or in the weight 6 days a week and often several times a day. For that reason, I rely on these tights to to help speed up recovery (blood flow) between sessions. I have noticed a major improvement in how stiff/sore my legs feel when I wear these tights. In our sport, we are also often getting hit with hard balls, so I also wear the recovery tights to decrease the swelling of bumps and bruises. Finally, during competition, I frequently sleep in these tights and I like that the waist band isn’t too restrictive unlike some of my other 2XU compression tights.
Mid-rise Compression Tight: I love wearing these during training sessions on the field and at the gym. They both keep my legs at a good temperature and support my leg muscles (they feel like a hug!) during tough sessions. The thicker waist band stops the tights from slipping down without cutting into my stomach, making them very comfortable.
Compression Perf Run Socks-I like to wear these socks under my playing socks for a little extra compression and blood flow. They are also a plane travel essential as my ankles tend to swell, making training the day after a flight a little easier!
